This week’s round up of random happy family snaps, an in-depth writing update, an upcoming festival appearance, and finding out my fiction has been listed for an award! Wow.

Evening walks by the sea in the summertime.
.
My husband is Irish (officially Australian now as well though) and therefore complains a lot about the millions of flies that swarm us while we walk around our neighbourhood. He reckons I never warned him about this possibility when we still lived in Dublin years ago and I was talking up how great Australia was.
.
This is true. I didn’t warn him…

Wow! So a novel i’ve written for teens is a 2022 CBCA Notable Book.
.
I’m very excited and quite amazed!! Such nice news

FRIDAY WRITING UPDATE
.
Wow, my new commitment to doing one these posts every week is already feeling difficult, haha. Wasn’t it just Friday about two minutes ago? Where does the time go?
.
I’ll keep today’s writing update short as I am neck deep in work right now, but here is what happened in my writing world this week:
.
.My novel ROAD TRIPPING WITH PEARL NASH, a teen romantic contemporary road trip story that was published last year in 2021, was announced as a CBCA Notables Book for older readers in their 2022 list. Super unexpected and exciting stuff! Wow!
.This week I’ve also shared a short story I’ve written (a dark fantasy for adult readers and a first taste of a new world I’ve been writing in lately) with a lovely author friend and got some positive feedback, which was much needed, as I’ve been shaking in my boots about sharing this little story with everyone (hopefully next month). I am sooooo nervous, haha, but also excited. But I’m always like this when I’m about to send something new out into the world!
.I’ve also been hard at work editing a novella, which is basically a stand-alone murder mystery story set against a dark epic fantasy backdrop, set in the same world as my short story. The book is creepy and murdery, and has been a lot of fun for me to disappear into!
.I’ve also been prepping some fun questions for next weekend’s (Sunday 06 March) Adelaide Writers’ Week HOMETOWN HAUNTS panel, which will be heaps of fun. I’ll be in conversation with amazing local Adelaide authors Vikki Wakefield and Jared Thomas, as well as Sarah Epstein who will be flying in especially for the event! If you are in Adelaide, we are on at 3pm, so make sure you drop by!!
.
.
Is that it? I reckon that is it.
Also, I said I’d keep this short, but I think I don’t know how to write short things. Even my new fantasy short story is kind of long, haha.
.
Also, considering I’m writing such dark murdery fantasy books right now, everything in my house and photos is so pink!! Gosh.
.
