Here is my lazy update of what I’ve been writing and reading, a little late!

Cat Days
I think she wants something … π€
.
Also, she’s sitting on a short story I wrote. Nothing our cat enjoys more than sitting on my writing (or literally any paper whatsoever. Paper is her favourite!)

Irish History
It’s weird, the last couple years I have become consistently more and more obsessed with history. I love reading about it, listening to podcasts about it, looking up weird stories and going down strange research holes on the internet.β π
.β
At the moment, this is my current read. I haven’t been super successful so far with reading history books straight through though, I must admit I usually pick and choose bits and jump around (although I’ve read some historical memoir straight through, but that feels a bit different as they don’t cover SO MUCH HISTORY like an overview book like this one does!).β
.β
Anyway, I thought I might give this book pictured here, which is on Irish history, a go and see how it reads. My husband is Irish (and his family are still in Dublin), and my dad is from there, too, so I also have heaps of family over in Dublin and on the West Coast (which is why I lived in Dublin for a bit after uni), but I feel I know way less than I’d like to about Ireland’s history. As in I really know nothing at all!β
.β
Learning history has been really fun and fascinating, so I’m looking forward to delving into this one!β

Walking days
Walking around our sparse dry neighbourhood on a windy day! Pictured is me down by the river, trying not get blown away! β
.β
I love windy days, they are actually my favourite. And down by the river, it is always windy. π»

Reading some fantasy
I finished this book recently (which is Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber as pictured), which got me really in the mood for fairytale books. I’ve always loved fables and fairytales, ever since I was a kid, so its been fun to read some modern fiction inspired by fairytale themes. β
.β
This one is apparently a tie in to another series by the same author, which I had no idea about when I picked it up … so I got a bit confused by some characters turning up for what felt like strangely pointed cameos … but it made more sense when I found out this is part of a shared universe! I must admit I also had no idea this was book one in a series (I thought it would be stand-alone for some reason) so was a little shocked by the abrupt ending, but I suppose that is definitely my own fault for not reading the back of the book properly, haha.

Friday Writing Update
π FRIDAY WRITING UPDATE π
Didn’t do one of these last Friday because I was too busy drowning (happily) in edits!
.
And basically that’s what I’ve been doing all week! Editing my fantasy novella … Which has bloomed into an actual novel now I suppose, coming in at 52k words. And now I’m proofreading it! So it’s getting very close now, which feels exciting!
.
So here’s everything I’ve been working on:
.
π Reading my manuscript aloud to pick up typos now my major editing pass has all been finalised. Reading aloud is so slow and tiring, but it really does pick up those tiny mistakes!
.
π Started language lessons again! μμΌλ‘ λͺ©μμΌ μμΉ¨μ νκ΅μ΄ μμ
μ΄ μμ΄μ. μ¬λ―Έμλλ° μ΄λ €μμ!
.
π Been working on a fantasy world map for my upcoming fantasy novels. I’ve never had to create a world before and it’s so much fun seeing the artist bring my setting to life! I can’t wait to share, it really looks fantastic!
.
π I’m also working on a few extra little goodies related to my series to give away for free on my website to interested folks. Also been making a new website as I want to split my books by using a slightly different name (PJ Nwosu) for my adult series. These books are dark and filled with murders, so I really want to keep them separate from my YA. I’ve been doing loads of planning and thinking and working out schedules, too!
.
π Watching drama and reading books. Finished a book on Irish history, which was fascinating! And started a translated fantasy novel based on historical Poland.
.
π Saw The Batman …. It’s very noir style crime detective stuff, which is very much my jam, so I loved it.

More books
I read this book a little while back. Pictured here is the dark fantasy book by Mark Lawrence called RED SISTER. This one is the first in a trilogy (I have all three books on my shelf now!). I keep meaning to start the second book but keep getting distracted!β
.β
I really enjoyed this one. The fantasy world was very dark and quite fascinating and there was a little twist in the world-building that I particularly loved (as well as how it is such a slow-burn reveal to understand this aspect of the world too!), so that was fun!β
.β
This novel is definitely very dark (which I am quite into these days. The darker, the better, haha!) and is about a young girl who ends up getting trained at an assassin school, and has some pretty wild action scenes that were a lot of fun to read!β
.β
I really need to read book two in the series…β
That’s it I reckon!
