Fantasy fiction update and a wasp inside my shirt!

I’m writing this as rain pours outside my window and my cat snores beside me (louder than you’d expect). In my opinion, a rainy, chilly day is a good day! Though I must admit this month hasn’t been all good, or the most productive, what with getting covid, a wasp stuck inside my t-shirt (!) and also some quite painful back issues (too much time hunched over a computer, maybe? Hmmm.)

Fantasy Fiction Update

My debut dark fantasy novel, Dream of Death City, is very close to being finished.

Right now I am doing my final read through before it goes off to be proofread, which is very exciting!

I’ve also been doing a lot of behind-the-scenes production stuff to get things ready, and am so excited for when I can finally hold this big book in my hands for the first time (always my favourite moment!).

Dream of Death City will be out in November, but I’ll have some more free short fiction to share with you before then, in the form of a connected prequel story, which follows a side character from the main novel. I’ll keep you updated on when that one will be released! I will also have heaps to share with you very soon, including maps, artwork, book covers and the free book itself 🙂

Real Life Stuff

In-between getting covid and then having the rubbish back pain, we did manage to get away and see the world for a bit. We travelled to a very isolated spot in a national park at the end of the Yorke Peninsula, South Australia, where the coast was wild, the walking trails were beautiful, and no reception existed at all! I really loved it.

I also had a shower just before we left (as you do), put on my t-shirt and then started running about the place screaming because there was a wasp inside the shirt. It stung me twice on my back before my husband managed to come and save me.

Weirdly enough, that is the second time this has happened to me in my life…
